Heart of the Community Award 2009
Heart of the Community Award 2009: Bob Cover
Established in 2007, to honor a volunteer who has been a pillar in the community through volunteer service is The Heart of the Community Award.
A volunteer’s service to others shines and deeply changes the lives of others. The Heart of the Community Award is a prestigious award presented annually and selected by The Clothes Less Traveled Thrift Shop Board of Directors. The award was established to publically recognize an individual, who throughout their lifetime have unselfishly given of themselves in the spirit of caring, love and concern for mankind.
I know you join me in congratulating Bob Cover as this years winner. At the volunteer appreciation dinner, Bob accepted his award, along side our previous winners, 2007 MaryAnn Cox and 2008 John Evans.
Bob has been a volunteer since 2004. Bob has already clocked 400 volunteer hours this year alone. Bob was very instrumental in the investigation and application of the new HVAC and security systems. This past July 4th Bob cooked 300+ hot dogs for our in store celebration. Bob runs our seasonal merchandise back and forth to several off sight storage units as well as orders and picks up our general supplies for the shop twice a month. This past September when a local store called to offer CLT it’s fixtures, Bob, with the help of Dick, was quick on the spot to dismantle 52 running feet of wall shelving. A few weeks later Bob assembled that 52 running feet and the shop looks amazing with the new fixtures. Bob and his wife Eileen continue to volunteer once a month on Saturdays as part of a regular volunteer schedule. Bob, we are so grateful to you and this award is well earned.
