Volunteers are the heart of our work at Clothes Less Traveled. Thank you for sharing your time, talent, and friendship with CLT.
Volunteering enhances your life in so many ways. Volunteering connects you to your neighbors and your community. Volunteering is good for your mind and body. It keeps you active and engaged. It advances your career through learned skills, experiences, and friends. And most importantly, volunteering brings fun and fulfillment to your life!
To honor our volunteers, we held the Volunteer Appreciation Celebration in Dixie Wing at Falcon Field. CLT Volunteer Coordinator Gina and Executive Director Fran worked hard to ensure everything possible was done to create an amazing experience for each volunteer.
Sunflowers were the theme this year. The airplane hangar was filled with cheery displays of sunflowers. The pop of yellow reflects the sunny and warm demeanor of the people in our community who donate their hard work and time to CLT.
Before the floral décor could arrive, the fantastic Knights of Columbus came to Dixie Wing to set up the large tables and chairs. Thank you, Knights of Columbus, for providing the muscle to get our party started!
Contemporary Catering served traditional southern cuisine for the dinner. Providing both peach cobbler and pecan cake for dessert made for a tough time choosing! Our amazing local Line Creek Brewery donated a variety of their craft beer which was enjoyed by many. Thank you so much for this in-kind sponsorship.
Volunteers ate their meal while listening to Board Member Pam Reid perform her original spoken word tribute. Her poem ‘Loving Madness at CLT’ highlighted everything we do and everything we are at Clothes Less Traveled. It was a perfect expression of love and appreciation for our volunteers.
Each month a volunteer is chosen to win the Above & Beyond Award for their exemplary service to CLT. This award includes recognition, a personalized apron or a hat, and the honor of presenting a $2,000 grant check from CLT to gift to any local nonprofit of the winner’s choosing. Awarded volunteers from January through September were brought forward to be honored as a group. October’s winner, Dave, was then announced. Congratulations!
The most anticipated announcement of the night was the winner of the Heart of the Community Award. Volunteers honored with this title have an impact so great it is felt beyond our shop and into the local community. Lisa Sieracki is more than deserving of this award. Volunteering since 2015, Lisa has given over 2,100 hours of volunteer service to CLT. Her work ethic is so ingrained in her volunteerism that she even served 5 full days a week of volunteer service for several months this year, to help fill a staffing shortage in the donation processing area. She not only notices the needs of others, but also anticipates those needs and acts quickly to include and motivate fellow volunteers and help customers feel right at home. Her deep commitment to the mission of CLT is not only evident in her direct service at the thrift shop, but also displayed by her outreach in the community. We can always count on Lisa to spread the good news about everything CLT has to offer and to help educate the community at large on both our organizational needs and resources.
In keeping with her huge heart for service and people, Lisa also enjoyed a career in Special Education. She worked with both high school and pre-school level students with various levels of ability. Her extensive knowledge base has been of great value to CLT, as she is always willing to offer guidance and ideas around best practices and service projects for the shop’s Special Needs Volunteer Program.
CLT is a successful volunteer led organization due to the Volunteer Board of Directors. Their passion for our mission is evident in their dedicated time. Three members of the Board will be rolling off after the end of this year. Board Members Michael, Nancy, and Diane have served their community and represented our organization. We wish them the best.
The Final Answer Band entertained us all night with their live music performance. From John Mellencamp’s ‘Hurts So Good’ to The Doobie Brothers’ ‘Long Train Runnin’ the dance floor was filled with dancers and with great tunes.
In addition to Line Creek Brewery, we had two other in-kind sponsors. The Volunteer Appreciation Celebration event programs were printed by M&R Printing. Peachtree City Golf Cars lent us golf carts to safely transport our guests to Dixie Wing. Thank you all for your generous contributions to our event.
Throughout the night raffle winners were drawn to receive either a gift basket or a gift card. All of the cards were donated to our volunteers by many local restaurants and businesses. Thank you for the gift cards, our volunteers are sure to be visiting you soon! Every guest at the event left with a gift of goodies and a smile.
