Find Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions

Question

“Can I sell my items to you?”

Answer

Clothes Less Traveled is a thrift shop that sells our community’s generous donations. We are not a consignment shop and cannot purchase your items.

Question

“Can I barter, dicker, haggle, or otherwise negotiate the prices at Clothes Less Traveled?”

Answer

No, our prices are final and cannot be changed by team members. On occasion, an item can become damaged while on the sales floor. If you wish to purchase a damaged item that is not already marked “as is,” it will have to be repriced by a manager.

You can bid on some of our specialty items on our eBay store.

Question

“Can I return my purchase or trade an item for something else?”

Answer

We do not allow returns, refunds, or exchanges. If you have purchased an appliance or electronic item that that does not work correctly, bring it back with your receipt within 7 days to receive store credit.

Question

“Why can’t you accept certain items as donations?”

Answer

Due to limited storage, when a department fills up with items, we have to temporarily stop accepting more items until the ones we already have are sold. There are also safety regulations that mean we cannot accept flammable liquids, food, medication, batteries, weapons, and recalled items.

Question

“What happens to donations you don’t sell?”

Answer

As part of our commitment to supporting a sustainable future, we partner with recycling companies and other charities to ensure items do not end up in landfills.

Atlanta Recycling Company (ARC) recycles the clothing, linen, home decor, and toy donations we are unable to sell. Ecycle Atlanta recycles electronic donations. There are also some items picked up by the Salvation Army.

The proceeds we receive from recycling become part of the money we give away as grants and scholarships.

Question

“What happens if I accidentally donate something?”

Answer

Please email us with a detailed description of the donation (pictures are super helpful if you have any!). We will do our best to recover it if it has not yet been sold.

Remember, once donations exit a donor’s vehicle they become property of Clothes Less Traveled. This is the ONLY instance in which Clothes Less Traveled property may leave the building without a receipt.

Question

“Are your team members all volunteers or all paid staff?”

Answer

Our team is made up of both volunteers and paid staff.

Clothes Less Traveled has always relied on our dedicated volunteers to fulfill our mission. Our Board of Directors is made up entirely of volunteers, and you will see volunteers in every department wearing CLT aprons or lanyards. Paid staff members like our friendly cashiers generally wear navy CLT t-shirts and name tags.

Consider joining our team as a volunteer or staff member today!

Question

“Do volunteers get discounts?”

Answer

Volunteers at CLT do get discounts! The amount depends on the hours you volunteer each month. There are also many other benefits to volunteering! You will find camaraderie among like-minded people, have fun while making a difference in your community, help the environment, and if you are a student you can earn a college scholarship!
