What Our Volunteers have to Say

“I enjoy the people, enjoy the work and enjoy giving back!”

Liz R.
Volunteer Since 2020

“I like being able to set my own schedule around my family, hobbies and other things going on in my life. I love giving back to the community”

Bill S.
Volunteer Since 2011

“I give my time because it relaxes my brain from ‘the real world’ and I love the girls I get to work with. My favorite is seeing items before they hit the shelves. Then, I have to discipline myself not to buy everything I see!”

Lynn D.
Volunteer Since 2020
“I love going through the unique items that come in on a daily basis; you wouldn’t believe some of the things people donate! I feel good about donating my time; and getting a discount doesn’t hurt my wallet, either!”

Celia P.
Volunteer Since 2021
“CLT has given me a purpose. Something intentional to do with my time, I enjoy working for an organization that gives back so much to the community and I’m grateful to be a part of that!”

Frank N.
Volunteer Since 2021
“Volunteering at CLT allows me to be a part of giving to many organizations and not just one or two. I began volunteering because it gave me something to do. Now, I’ve made lifelong friends with staff and other volunteers and I enjoy working with them on weekly basis.”

Lori M.
Volunteer Since 2014
“The volunteer only shopping events are exciting because we’re the only ones in the store and it feels like we have the store to ourselves! I love knowing that the time I spend here directly impacts my community. A grant was made in my name to my favorite charity, Fayette Humane Society, and I was delighted to be appreciated in that way.”

Volunteer Since 2011

More About Volunteering

Student Volunteering
The Clothes Less Traveled welcomes students in Middle and High School to volunteer. We are extremely flexible with scheduling so whether you would like to complete service hours for school, special clubs or just for fun, contact our volunteer coordinator at Volunteer@ClothesLessTraveled.org.
We also offer scholarships for High School Seniors – Click here for more information!
Corporate, Church, School, and Civic Groups
Clothes Less Traveled is a great place for groups to volunteer. Children above the age of 12 can volunteer as part of a group as long as adult supervision is provided. Please contact us to receive more information on project ideas, group sizes and time commitment. We can custom fit a project to meet both your needs as a group organizer and benefit the community, families and individuals we serve.
Host a Clothing, Furniture, Household Item Drive or Garage Sale
Clothes Less Traveled is always in need of donations. If you would like to organize a drive to benefit Clothes Less Traveled email us at info@clotheslesstraveled.org.

Volunteer FAQs

Who Can Volunteer?
Clothes Less Traveled welcomes adults of all ages and students, grades 9-12. Youth ages 8 years and older are welcome to volunteer, but must always be accompanied by an adult chaperone, over 21 years of age. Opportunities for groups of 15 or less volunteers are also available.
Mandated Community Service Volunteers MUST be 15 years old or older
When Can I Volunteer?
Finding your best fit is easy! At Clothes Less Traveled, volunteers craft their own schedules. Anytime the store is open, you can volunteer. It’s that simple. Volunteers can elect to serve on a dedicated schedule or remain a “Pop-In” volunteer and literally drop-in as the interest arises.
Where Can I Help?
Are you a people person who never met a stranger? Join us front and center to help assist customers with general needs, organize donations and spruce up product display areas across the store.
More of a private go-getter? Go behind the scenes to help inspect and sort donated clothing and merchandise as it all arrives! Donation processing is the backbone of the Clothes Less Traveled machine. Staff and volunteers work as a team to get the job done, with an emphasis on major fun!
Love Special Projects? Host a donation drive, assist with an in-store special event or help us promote Clothes Less Traveled at various community events.
